YOGA FOUNDATIONS WORKSHOP – FROM THE GROUND UP

Learn how to create great foundations for an effective and effortless yoga practice in this 3 hour workshop with Neil Urry.
This three-hour workshop is designed to help broaden your anatomical understanding and how to apply it to your yoga practice. It will offer tips to help you explore your bodies and to become strong and mechanically safe yogi or yogini.
The session will encompass the following subjects;
• Anatomy terminology
• Key anatomical concepts
• Fundamentals of some of the more frequently used asana viewed from the ground up. (Childs pose, Downward facing dog, Plank, Chaturanga dandasana, Crescent lunge, Warrior II, Extended side angle pose, Triangle and Half Moon pose) and some modifications
• Transitions from asana to asana – effortless, energy efficient movement.
• A simple vinyasa using the asana we have explored.
Our exploration will be fun and playful, as-well-as challenging and thought provoking. We will take some time to warm and mobilise before each asana and have an opportunity in our preparation to incorporate our anatomy terminology and key anatomical concepts.
What to bring: Water bottle, yoga mat, an open mind and a smile!
